QUETTA: The Balochistan Awami Party (BAP) has formed an alliance with the newly established Al-Fateh Panel for the upcoming 2018 general elections.

Al-Fateh Panel Chairman and former senator Sardar Fateh Muhammad Hassani belonged to the Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) but after developing differences over not being awarded a party ticket to contest the elections, he parted ways.

Addressing a joint news conference at the Quetta Press Club, Hassani said, “I haven’t tendered my resignation to PPP Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari but if they want to sack me, they can.

“From the Al-Fatah Panel, comprising tribal elders, I am contesting elections for NA-268. PPP didn’t issue me a ticket; therefore, I don’t care if they sack me from their party.”

Hassani said, “Our alliance will continue even after the elections.”
BAP President Jam Kamal termed the alliance with Al-Fateh Panel as unprecedented in the political history of Balochistan and vowed the alliance would continue after the general elections as well.

BAP has withdrawn its candidate Ejaz Raisani from NA-268 in favour of Hassani and announced its full support for Hassani.

On National Party chief Hasil Bizenjo’s comments on BAP’s future, Kamal said, “Many people have been speculating about our party’s future and predicting that it will be wiped out after elections. Let me tell you that BAP emerged due to the will of the people of Balochistan and our party will form the next provincial government with our coalition partners.”

The BAP president slammed NP’s performance in Balochistan and said, “Despite ruling the province for four-and-a-half years, the NP failed to deliver as their members were busy in meeting their personal interests.”

BAP says no one did anything for Balochistan

Kamal said, “BAP’s vision is good governance in Balochistan and clinching the due rights of the people of the province from the federal government.”

BAP Secretary General Manzoor Khan Kakar said, “Our alliance with Al-Fateh Panel will be the last nail in the coffin of nationalists. BAP is a platform for all the people living in Balochistan without any ethnic discrimination.”
