Parts of the metropolis received light rain on Thursday and the weather turned pleasant as cooler winds accompanied the light showers.
The rains are a result of monsoon winds originating from India's Rajasthan and will affect the provinces of Sindh and Balochistan.
Met dept's Director Abdul Rasheed said that parts of Karachi may witness the first onset of monsoon rains on Thursday. It is likely to continue till Friday, the Met director said, adding that light thunder will precede periodic showers in various parts of the city.

Impacting sea breeze, tides as well as wind speed, the met chief said, the change in the weather pattern will reduce humidity levels in the atmosphere.
The thick cloud cover being witnessed by Karachiites for the past several days is indicative of pre-monsoon rains, the Met office said, adding that the city generally experiences monsoon showers between July 15 and September 15.
