Defence counsel will present new medical reports, another exemption request on Friday

The accountability court hearing corruption references against the Sharif family granted a one-day exemption from appearance to deposed prime minister Nawaz Sharif and daughter Maryam Nawaz on Thursday.
The defence counsel plans to present a new medical report along with another application seeking exemption before the court on Friday.

Nawaz and Maryam are currently in Britain's capital visiting Begum Kulsoom Nawaz. On June 14, Nawaz and daughter Maryam left for the United Kingdom after being granted a brief exemption from the ongoing corruption trial.
While the father and daughter were en-route to London, the former first lady suffered a cardiac arrest and was shifted to the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) and placed on a ventilator.

On June 19, the accountability court had accepted a week-long exemption request submitted by Nawaz and Maryam's counsel.
The Sharif family is facing trial at an accountability court in Islamabad on corruption references filed by the National Accountability Bureau (NAB) in the wake of Supreme Court’s July 28, 2017 verdict in Panamagate case disqualifying Nawaz and directing the anti-graft watchdog to launch an inquiry.
