LAHORE:
Punjab Caretaker Chief Minister Dr Hasan Askari Rizvi has said the youth can be mobilised towards economic empowerment. He added this could be made possible through the establishment of quality technical and engineering institutions in the province.

He expressed these views while talking to German Ambassador Martin Kobler at his office on Wednesday.

On the occasion, different matters of mutual interest were discussed. The German envoy congratulated Dr Askari on becoming the caretaker chief minister.

Dr Askari appreciated the German role in providing Pakistan with better access to European markets. He said a good number of German companies were working in Pakistan, but there was a need to enhance the volume of trade between the two countries.

“Punjab and the whole of Pakistan are fully safe and secure for foreign investments,” he said.

He said the youth was 60% of the total population and they can be made economically self-reliant through market-based technical education and skills.

“Technical training of the youth is an important step towards building a stable Pakistan,” he added.

“In fact, the establishment of technical and engineering educational institutions in Punjab, in collaboration with Germany, is the need of the hour.”

The caretaker CM said Germany is leading the world in the fields of technical and engineering education. He said German collaboration in the field of skill development will be welcomed.

The German envoy stated that a caretaker setup before elections was uncommon in the rest of the world, but he still took pleasure in meeting a caretaker chief minister.

He said Germany was ready to extend necessary cooperation to Pakistan in different sectors including technical and vocational training.
