Hello Kitty-themed bullet train unveiled in Japan

West Japan Railway firm hopes that the striking appearance of the train will help boost tourism

Cartoon character and marketing phenomenon Hello Kitty themed bullet train was just unveiled in Japan.

It will commence its three month run between the cities of Osaka and Fukuoka on Saturday, BBC reported.

Made and unveiled by the West Japan Railway firm in hopes that the striking appearance of the train will help boost tourism. The train showcases Hello Kitty branding features from windows to seat covers and flooring.

In addition, the first carriage in the train will serve as a place for passengers to buy regional goods and food from western Japan, furthering the firm's aim to attract tourists.

A second carriage will contain a large Hello Kitty doll in crew uniform for the passengers to pose for pictures.

The famous Japanese cartoon character Hello Kitty was a creation of Yuko Shimizu. Since its inception in 1974, it can found on everything from key chains to motor oil, airplanes to toilet paper and the brand is now estimated to be worth billions of dollars.
