Saddar Police station SHO Athar Rasheed said Mohammad Rafique Joiya, a resident of Chak Salamat, tried to flee with the money that the gang had looted in different incidents.

Meanwhile, his accomplices, namely Ghaffar Watoo, Bagh Ali and Kamal Deen, caught him and took him to the Rahmani Malkana area. The accused gouged Rafique’s eyes out with a sharp instrument, cut his nose and tongue and shaved his head and beard.
Rafique fell unconscious due to the pain and torture. Considering him dead, the suspects dumped him near River Sutlej.
Police and rescue officials reached the spot and provided first aid to the victim. They shifted him to DHQ hospital Pakpattan where he is in critical condition.
Police said Joiya was wanted in 16 robbery cases.
