Taliban calling: Man gets threatening phone calls

Accused had made several threatening phone calls to rice dealer and mill owner.

DASKA: The Bambaanwala police have registered a case against an unknown accused, allegedly belonging to the Tehreek-i-Taliban, for trying to extort money from a mill owner.

According to police, the accused had made several threatening phone calls to Phaangat-Daska based rice dealer and mill owner Mian Kashif Yaqub.

The man claimed to be a Taliban member and demanded Rs5 million as extortion money in exchange for sparing Yaqub’s life. Yaqub told police that the man had been calling for months and managed to locate him even though he had changed his phone number several times.

Police have started an investigation with no arrest so far.
