QUETTA: A member of the Hindu community was kidnapped from his shop by unknown armed men in Dera Murad Jamali on Friday.

According to police, Amrat Kumar, son of Hindu Panchayat member Saith Thara Chand, was kidnapped in broad daylight while he was sitting in his shop in the main city area.

The minority community of the area announced a shutter down strike following the incident. However, the local police have launched a search operation to trace the kidnappers.

The incident, ahead of the next month’s general elections, has raised concerns in the community.

Man dies, two others injured in Dalbandin road accidents

Meanwhile, a man died and two others sustained injuries in separate road accidents in Chatter area of Naseerabad district.

Sources told The Express Tribune that a man, identified as Badbain, fell down from his over-speeding motorcycle and sustained severe injuries few days ago. He was rushed to Civil Hospital Quetta, where he later succumbed to his injuries.

In a separate incident, two men sustained injuries when front wheel of their over-speeding motorbike came out in Bypass area of the district. The injured were initially taken to Prince Fahad Hospital for medical treatment and later shifted to the trauma center of Quetta’s civil hospital.
