Mehwish Hayat confirms Benazir Bhutto biopic in the works
Hayat broke the news of playing the slain PPP leader on the occasion of what would have been her 65th birthday
Mehwish Hayat is undoubtedly one of the finest actors Pakistan has in its revived film industry. With her stellar acting skills and ferocious personality, Hayat has managed to win hearts worldwide.
While her acting prowess has always made Hayat a brilliant star, we are rooting for the actor to fit the shoes of portraying the slain PPP leader, Benazir Bhutto, in a biopic we all have been anxiously waiting for! In a recent Instagram post, the starlet all but confirms that she's gearing up for the role of a lifetime.
Quoting a famous saying with the former Prime Minister, Mohtarma Benzair Bhutto's book in her lap, Hayat wrote, "We have broken glass ceilings, we have broken the stereotypes, and we have been and continue to be prepared to go the extra mile, to be judged by unrealistic standards, to be held more accountable."
The Actor in Law star continued, "Today would have been Mohtarma Benazir Bhutto's 65th birthday. It is an ideal time to reflect on her undoubted achievements.".
Praising the slain leader for breaking stereotypes, Hayat stated, "I have never really been a political person but leaving that aside there is no denying the great strides she made for women's empowerment and equality in our country - everything we are still fighting for even today."
The Dillagi actor added, "There was a time when she made women believe that almost anything was possible - she gave us hope and inspired us to reach for the stars."
Hayat then went on to confirm that she is indeed working on and doing research for Bhutto's biopic, "I am privileged to have been given the opportunity to research and learn more about her life and sitting here I can only reflect on so much more that could have been had she not lost her life so tragically."
She further stated, "The sign of a true leader is the legacy they leave behind and the reverence with which the people remember her irrespective of party allegiances," the starlet further wrote. She was a truly remarkable woman and I look forward to giving life to her story soon."
Previously, Hayat took to Instagram to share a screenshot of a local publication’s article, in which the writer suggested Hayat to play the slain PPP leader.
The news of Hayat starring in a Bhutto biopic went viral on social media. Sharing the picture, she wrote, “Benazir is a true hero of mine, a real powerful woman and a inspiration for many millions around the world. Would be a privilege and honour to play her on screen and bring her wonderful journey, her inspirational story to the world!”
We do see the resemblance between Hayat and BB, and definitely wish to see her portray the ferocious leader with the same elegance and grace.
Her last movie, Punjab Nahi Jaungi became the highest grossing Pakistani movie and recently won a jury award at Shanghai Organisation Corporation. Her upcoming project, Load Wedding stars Fahad Mustafa and is likely to release on Eidul Azha.
