Massive bureaucratic reshuffle on the cards in Punjab

Government prepares to transfer 31 district police officers, 55 SPs throughout Punjab

LAHORE: After the Election Commission of Pakistan given a go-head to bureaucratic reshuffle, a massive overhaul in Punjab Police and civil bureaucracy is expected by Thursday.

According to an ‘official’ document, the government for reasons best known to them has refused to verify that around 28 officers are to be repatriated to the Establishment Division from Punjab.

They included P&D Chairman Jahanzeb Khan (BS 22), Muhammad Mustaq Ahmad (BS-22, ACS C&W), Omer Rasul (BS-21) ACS (S&GAD), Muhammad Aslam (BS-21, senior member, BOR), Abdullah Khan Sumbal (BS-20, Commissioner Lahore), Ahmad Javed Qazi (BS-20 former secretary implementation to CM and currently OSD), Ali Jan Khan, secretary, Primary & Secondary Health Care Department; and DC Lahore Sumair Ahmad Syed who is a BS-19 officer.

Against those officers, the Punjab government has sought the services of around 10 senior bureaucrats from the federal government.

Moreover, the government would also be transferring around 69 bureaucrats of which 34 where senior bureaucrats of secretory and commissioner level and above, whereas the remaining were grade 18 and above officers -- mostly deputy commissioners.

The Punjab government also wishes to place 18 senior police officers at the disposal of the federal government, including CCPO Lahore Captain (retd) Muhammad Amin.

ECP swarmed by politics, politicians

The government would transfer 33 senior police officers of grade 20 and above scale which will also include Additional IG (Logistics and Procurement) BA Nasir, who as per the document is to be posted as CCPO Lahore in place of Muhammad Amin.

Also, the government prepares to transfer 31 district police officers and 55 SPs throughout Punjab. Punjab Police have also sought the services of six police officers - including Tariq Abbas Qureshi who is a BS-20 officer.
