ISLAMABAD: The appointment of Pakistan LNG Limited (PLL) Chief Executive Officer M Adnan Gilani is not being investigated by the National Accountability Bureau (NAB), emphasised an official of the Petroleum Division.

PML-N govt also increased LNG import margins

“PLL, under Gilani, has secured liquefied natural gas (LNG) contracts at the lowest cost through transparent, open and international tenders. PLL was the first buyer in the world to publicise and tender for long-term contracts,” he said. According to the official, international energy consultant FGE of Singapore in mid-2017 evaluated landed cost of LNG in different consuming countries and found the cost in Pakistan at the lowest level.

About the hiring of Gilani, the official pointed out that the CEO had a finance and energy background spanning over two decades in world-renowned institutions like Goldman Sachs. The official recalled that Gilani was selected for the post of PLL CEO through a transparent process in early 2016, which was blocked by former principal secretary to prime minister. However, it was rejected outright by the petroleum ministry.
