ISLAMABAD: Disgruntled workers of the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) continued protesting over ticket allotments outside chairperson Imran Khan's Bani Gala residence on Tuesday.

Enraged by the issuance of party tickets to candidates without merit, the protesters assert that the candidates who live in the constituency should be nominated rather than outsiders. Majority of the protesters at Bani Gala are from constituencies of Punjab and Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa (K-P).

Speaking to Express News, a disgruntled party worker said Ahmed Hussain was the only deserving candidate for NA-154. Others expressed reservations over Sikandar Hayat Bosan joining PTI, pointing out that there were strong chances of him being granted a ticket.

Bani Gala besieged by furious PTI workers

Imran has been facing stiff resistance from his party workers. On Monday, he sought three days time to “personally review” all their appeals against “unfair” allotment of tickets.

“I swear by God, I have not given even a single ticket to any of my family members or close friends. Decisions have been made purely on merit. Give me three days and I will personally review all appeals,” he asked the unhappy workers who by Monday evening managed to reach the gate of his residence.

The protestors said they will vacate the area after three days when Imran announces his decision regarding the immediate reversal of decisions of the parliamentary board that finalised the party candidates for the upcoming general elections.
