Dual nationality: FIA submits details of 122 candidates to ECP

The Federal Investigation Authority has provided details of 122 candidates possessing dual nationality to the Election Commission of Pakistan.

The list, Express News reported, includes senior politicians such as former Sindh chief minister Murad Ali Shah and Pak Sar Zameen party's Fauzia Kasuri.

According to the FIA report, Kasuri is a US national, whereas Shah is a Canadian national. Tehreek-e-Insaf's Faisal Vawda is also a US national.

The report stated that 60 electoral candidates hold a British passport, 26 candidates are American nationals, while 24 have Canadian nationality.

Candidates who are dual nationals have to give up their foreign passports in order to contest the 2018 general elections, scheduled for 25th of next month.

Bullehshah | 6 years ago | Reply Some countries with significant diaspora have elected representatives in their parliaments (overseas constituency). No big deal if someone is a dual national. The law needs to change!
