3,300 police, FC personnel deployed for Eid security in Quetta

QUETTA: Nearly 3,300 police officers and Frontier Corps (FC) personnel are going to be deployed at mosques and bazaars for security reasons during Chaand Raat activities and at sensitive mosques for Eidul Fitr prayers.
The squad includes 1,825 police officers and 1,475 FC personnel.
Addressing a joint news conference on Thursday, Quetta DIG Abdul Razzaq Cheema and Sector Commander Brigadier Tasawar Sattar said, “For Eidul Fitr prayers, 10 mosques and Eid Gahs have been declared sensitive following security threats. They will be provide full security.”

“Alamdar Road, Eidgah and police lines are among the most sensitive spots where strict security measures have been adopted and no vehicles or motorcycles will be allowed to park in these spots,” DIG Cheema said.
Special deployment of police has been made on busiest points of the city, including Millennium Mall, Gold City Mall, MDS Departmental Store, Liaquat Bazaar, Meezan Chowk, Churi Gali, Prince Road and Abdul Sattar Road.

“Personnel of forces like the Eagle Squad, Mobile Patrolling, Footpath Patrolling, ATF, QRF, BC, RRG and FC have been performing their duties responsibly in the city to provide a secure environment to the citizens,” said Brigadier Sattar. “More than 1,400 FC personnel have been deployed in the city after finalising Police-FC Joint Security Plan for Eid. We have also called in additional troops from surrounding sectors, but for now we have finalised the security plan with the police to provide security to the people of Quetta.” DIG Cheema said, “Special Branch, bomb disposal squad and civil defence teams have been deployed to sweep the sensitive areas with the help of sniper dogs before the Eidul Fitr prayers.”
