Unproven charges: FIA chief reinstates officers for want of evidence

Officers reinstated after charges of abuse and misconduct could not be proven during an inquiry.

Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) Director General (DG) Malik Muhammad Iqbal has reinstated some officers after charges of abuse and misconduct against them could not be proven during an inquiry, The Express Tribune has learnt.


DG FIA reinstated Assistant Director FIA Gujranwala Gul Sanober and Inspector Muhammad Ahsan. In a related development on the provincial level, Director Punjab Waqar Haider also reinstated Inspector Rana Shahid Habib and posted him to the FIA sub-circle, Gujrat. Five officers of FIA have also been transferred by the DG and Director FIA Punjab. Notifications have been issued by the FIA Headquarters for the transfer and reinstatement of these officials.

Waseem Ahmed Sial, a grade 19 police officer has been posted as Chief Of Staff to DG FIA while his predecessor, Farrukh Rasheed, a grade 18 officer has been posted as Deputy Director National Central Bureau Interpol at FIA Headquarters Islamabad.

Waqar Haider transferred two officers posted in Corporate Crime Circle and Anti-human Trafficking Circles (AHTC). Inspector Syed Zubair Ikhlaq has been transferred as the Station House Officer of AHTC police station while Inspector Samiullah Khan has been posted in the Immigration Wing at Allama Iqbal International Airport, while Inspector Sajid Amin has been transferred to Wagah check-post.

The DG FIA has constituted different raiding parties for the immediate arrest of all the officers nominated in the FIR.

The teams raided the residences and other suspected ‘hideouts’ of these staffers. The accused will be arrested soon, the FIA officials claimed.
