Unidentified gunmen shot dead veteran journalist Shujaat Bukhari in Srinagar on Thursday.
The Hindu newspaper, quoting police, said the attackers fired “from a close range” with the bullets hitting him in the chest after which he succumbed to his injuries in a hospital.
