
The committee will comprise Additional Deputy Commissioner (General) Captain (retired) Shoaib Ali, Additional SP Security Operations Division Syed Mustafa Tanveer, SP Traffic Chaudhry Khalid Rasheed and two deputy superintendents of police.

The committee, notified by the deputy commissioner on Friday, will be responsible for ensuring security during public gatherings and rallies in the capital.
The committee would also scrutinise applications submitted by various political parties for holding public gatherings and rallies in the capital for canvassing.
According to the notification, the committee will also verify that the organisers of public gatherings carry out the requisite security measures as per the SOPs issued by the district administration.

It will hold meetings with the administration of the political parties before holding public gatherings at the designated venue and consider the requests of the political parties for issuance of no-objection certificates (NOCs) for public gatherings.
The notification further said that all the public meetings and rallies will be held at the Parade Avenue near Shakarparian after securing the NOC from the district administration.
However, corner meetings can be held at various spots in the city after obtaining the due approval of the district administration.
