Everything you need to know about Quention Tarantino's star-studded new film

Upcoming release is based on the Charles Manson family murders that occurred in 1969

Earlier this year, film-maker Quentin Tarantino announced his ninth film. Once Upon a Time in Hollywood is loosely based on the Manson family murders. According the Business Insider, it's set to be a blockbuster with a star-studded cast.

Leonardo DiCaprio will be a part of the upcoming project and he teased a few details about it at the CinemaCon event held in Las Vegas last month. Margot Robbie also confirmed that she will be essaying Sharon Tate in Once Upon a Time in Hollywood.

Other fine actors such as Damian Lewis, Dakota Fanning and Emile Hirsch will also be joining the cast. Brad Pitt will have a crucial role to play as well as Tim Roth and Michael Madsen. Veteran actor Al Pacino has also jumped on the bandwagon and is guaranteed to be a part of the forthcoming film.

Once Upon a Time in Hollywood has already got fans excited. Tarantino revealed earlier that the film would not specially center on Charles Manson but focus on the year 1969. Reports suggested that it is scripted on the murder of Tate by Manson's followers.

The ace film-maker added that he had been working on the script for half a decade. Tarantino said, "I've lived in Los Angeles County most of my life, including in 1969, when I was seven years old. I'm very excited to tell this story of LA and a Hollywood that does not exist anymore."

He also confirmed that Once Upon a Time in Hollywood is closest to Pulp Fiction - one of Tarantino's most iconic films comprising of interconnected stories.

Speaking of being cast as one of the leads, Robbie told IndieWire, "Tarantino is one of my bucket-list directors. I've been a huge fan of him for as long as I can remember."

DiCaprio, who starred in Tarantino's Oscar-winning film Django Unchained, also had nothing but praise for the film-maker. Talking about the script, he stated, "As an LA native and having read the script, it's one of the most amazing screenplays. We are going to do our best job to make it fantastic."

It's also interesting to note that the film will be released on the 50th anniversary of the Manson family murders which occurred on August, 9, 1969. Once Upon a Time in Hollywood is, therefore, slated to release on August 9, 2019.
