Measures needed: Outages harming industrial activities

The government must take urgent measures to overcome load-shedding, said ICCI acting President

ISLAMABAD: Islamabad Chamber of Commerce and Industry (ICCI) Acting President Muhammad Naveed Malik has demanded that the government take urgent measures to overcome load-shedding as a sudden increase in power outages is badly affecting production activities and making life of common man miserable, especially in Ramazan.

He praised the directive given by the caretaker prime minister to the power ministry for taking steps to curtail losses in order to improve the overall system’s efficiency and supply.

He made the remarks while talking to FPCCI Vice President Capital Office Karim Aziz Malik. Naveed pointed out that according to the Economic Survey 2017-18, the installed electricity generation capacity in the country had improved from 22,812 megawatts in June 2013 to 29,573MW by February 2018.

Apart from this, the outgoing government had claimed addition of over 10,000MW to the national grid during its tenure.
