Power production rises 30% over five years
In this test, operations and performance of an entire power complex is tested under various conditions and on several loads before being approved for commercial operations. The Balloki power plant completed its simple-cycle test run on August 16, 2017 and started simple-cycle production on August 30, 2017 for the supply of 760 megawatts to the national grid. Since then, the power plant has supplied 1.8 billion units to the national grid amounting to Rs18 billion.

“Groundbreaking of the Balloki power plant took place on November 10, 2015. Completion of such a massive project in only 31 months is an achievement for the National Power Parks Management Company,” said a statement issued on Monday.
The company has also developed the 1,230-megawatt Haveli Bahadur Shah power plant in Jhang, which started combined-cycle commercial operation on May 9, 2018.

Together, both plants have supplied 3.7 billion units to the national grid. Since the beginning of Ramazan, the power parks company has generated 880 million units of electricity which is enough to power six million households ie approximately 18% of total households in Pakistan.
