65 arrested for violating official prices

PESHAWAR: District administration Peshawar arrested 65 people for the violation of the official price list and overcharging consumers for the purchase of fruits and vegetables.

Taking notice of the growing prices of the fruits and vegetables, Deputy Commissioner (DC) Peshawar, Dr Imran Hamid Sheikh has created a special squad, which on a daily basis visits fruit and vegetable markets in the early hours and issues a price list. In this regard, the squad Monday morning visited the fruits and vegetables markets and announced official price lists. Later, the district administration teams carried out checking of the essential items in different areas including Hayatabad, Charsadda Road, Dalazak Road,Kohat Road, City area, University Road, G.T. Road, Gulbahar and Hashtnagri localities and on violation of the price list arrested 65 profiteers.
