Imprisonment awaits Nawaz, says Tahirul Qadri
Says Shehbaz and his allies should also be held accountable
Pakistan Awami Tehreek (PAT) chief Tahirul Qadri has predicted imprisonment for ousted prime minister Nawaz Sharif, Express News reported.
Speaking to media after landing at Lahore’s Allama Iqbal Airport on Sunday, Qadri said Nawaz will soon face his fate as imprisonment awaits him. The PAT chief was referring to the cases filed in an accountability court by the National Accountability Bureau (NAB) on Supreme Court’s directives.
“Nawaz has appeared as an accused before the accountability court. He will be imprisoned for his crimes soon,” claimed Qadri.
Noting Pakistan Muslim League Nawaz (PML-N) supremo’s testimony in the corruption references, the Pakistani-Canadian stressed that instead of answering questions, the latter delivered political rhetoric.
Qadri further added that former Punjab chief minister and PML-N president Shehbaz Sharif and his allies should also be held accountable.
Tahirul Qadri to go all-out against PML-N with ‘joint opposition alliance’
In March, Qadri had claimed that Nawaz wanted to leave the country before the end of the current government’s term and the judgments on corruption references.
“He is ready to escape before the end of PML-N’s tenure. Instead of using his party as a shield, the disqualified ex-PM must provide the money trail for his London assets to an accountability court.”
Qadri had stated that the so-called tiger, who was intimidating state institutions a few days ago, now nervously wanted to surrender.
