Man opens fire at father, brother after being reprimanded

Condition of both victims is critical; accused is at large

RAHIM YAR KHAN: A man opened firing on his father and brother after being told not to leave the house. Both are in critical condition and have been shifted to the hospital. However, the accused remains at large and police failing to apprehend him.

A police official told Express News that Muhammad Rafique asked his son, Muneeb, not to wander outside the house and scolded him. As a result, Muneeb lost his temper and opened fire at his father with a 30-bore pistol. The father was shot twice and was critically injured, he added.

When Muneeb’s brother, Naveed, heard the shots and saw his father bleeding, he came to help him, and was shot at as well and was injured. After the incident, the accused fled from the scene with the pistol. Rescue 1122 team arrived at the scene and gave first aid to the injured father and son, before shifting them to the hospital.



The police have registered a case against the accused for intent to murder and started investigation.

Earlier, a family dispute turned violent in Bhakkar when a man killed the father and brother of his wife after they tried to pressure him into divorcing her.

The police said 33-year-old Hamza, a resident of Wadhay Wali, had married Aqsa, 23. Fearing a strong reaction from their families, the couple had eloped and left their hometown.

After a gap of about seven months, Hamza and Aqsa finally visited their homes, where the woman’s father threatened Hamza and asked him to divorce his daughter. During a heated exchange, Hamza opened fire on his in-laws, killing his father-in-law and brother-in-law died.
