Improving Performance: Police to get 300 submachine guns

The guns will be distributed among 8 permanent, 5 surprise and 25 district check posts.

RAWALPINDI: The Punjab government will provide 300 Submachine Guns (SMGs)to Rawalpindi police in order to help control terrorism and criminal activities in the city. The guns will be distributed among eight permanent, five surprise and 25 district check posts, while each police station will get ten and 40 will be reserved for VIPs, said CPO Rawalpindi Azhar Hameed Khokhar. The latest guns are being given on the special request of the CPO who discovered, upon visiting check posts, that police officials were performing their duties without weapons. While talking to The Express Tribune, Khokhar said SMGs will help improve the security situation in the city.
