Cabinet approves a whopping 300% increase in annual fund

QUETTA: With a couple of days left for the Balochistan government’s tenure to end, the provincial cabinet has approved a whopping increase of 300% or Rs1,500 million in the annual fund for the differently-abled persons. The annual fund has been increased from Rs500 million to Rs2,000 million.
The cabinet meeting, which was held late on Monday night, was chaired by Chief Minister Abdul Quddus Bizenjo and attended by nearly all the provincial ministers, advisers, secretaries and concerned officers.



The cabinet also approved monthly compensation of Rs4,000 per person for more than 2,000 differently-abled persons in the province. And the amount would be increased with the support and help of welfare organisations in Balochistan, the meeting was informed.
The cabinet lauded the efforts of the law enforcement agencies operating in the province for taking timely action and killing two terrorists, minutes after they martyred two traffic wardens on Sirki Road.

Discussing drought in Balochistan, the cabinet was informed that the deal with Russian company (Climate Global Control Trading) to conduct cloud seeding or artificial rain would resolve the issue.



The meeting was informed that as the CGCT had successfully tested artificial rain in Gulf and Iran, the provincial government had allowed the company to shower artificial rain in their drought hit regions.
“In the first phase, the company will commence cloud seeding in Gwadar where 10,000 square kilometres, comprising four dams, will be showered with artificial rain,” experts told the cabinet members.

The cabinet approved the project and directed environmental and irrigation departments to constitute a committee which would visit Dubai to experience their artificial rain projects.



In order to protect the property of minorities living in Balochistan, the cabinet has approved ‘Balochistan Protection of Communal Properties Bill 2018’, which will be tabled in the provincial assembly for approval very soon.

The cabinet also approved Balochistan Protection against Harassment of Women at Work Places 2018 Bill to guarantee women safety at workplaces.

Addressing the meeting, the chief minister said, “We have to take every step cautiously as we lack resources.

“If the provincial departments work hard and with sincerity, I am optimistic that all development projects will be completed on time and Balochistan will be back on the track of development.”

He advised the government departments’ officers to do their best in completing development schemes.
