Varsities of Muslim world urged to spread Islam’s true message

IIUI president suggests religion should be incorporated into curriculum

Scholars in the capital have called on their colleagues in the Muslim world to play their due role in spreading the message of peace and moderation.

This was urged by the International Islamic University Islamabad (IIUI) rector and president during their speeches at an iftar-dinner titled “moderation and Ramazan” organised by the Iqbal International Institute for Research and Dialogue (IRD) at its Faisal Mosque Campus.



IIUI Rector Dr Masoom Yasinzai said that universities in the Muslim world must take the responsibility of nurturing the youth and preparing them as ambassadors of peace.

He went on to discuss the importance of dialogue — that speaking was at times more effective than physical action.

IIUI President Dr Ahmed Yousif Al-Draiweesh said that the university would keep emphasising on spreading Islam’s message of peace.

He added that brotherhood, peace and harmony form the base of the Islamic civilization, adding that Islam spreads a message of peace and harmony for the entire world and it is our responsibility to spread this message across the globe.



“IIUI is striving to serve the Muslim world with a vision of promotion of peaceful co-existence and providing quality education to the youth integrated with teachings of Islam blended with moderation,” he said.

Moreover, Dr Al-Draiweesh called upon Muslim societies around the world to look into their academic curriculums and incorporate Islamic teachings of peace and moderation and initiate efforts to form a well-devised educational policy.

He urged that intellectuals and academicians should be brought together to establish a roadmap for a balanced educational curriculum with an ample blend of Islamic teachings so that whatever they learn can be seen in the light of Islam’s message.
