Local politician's son killed in separate firing incident

KARACHI: A three-year-old boy was found dead in the Ahsanabad area of the city within the limits of the SITE Super Highway police station. His body was moved to Abbasi Shaheed Hospital for an autopsy where he was identified as Raheel, son of Akhtar.

According to SHO Mazhar Iqbal, the victim's father married twice and the victim was his son from his first wife, adding that the victim's body was found shortly after he left home Friday afternoon.

Police said the boy was strangled to death, while the motive behind the incident has yet to be ascertained.

Separately, a young man was killed in a firing incident in the Orangi Town neighbourhood on Friday. Police officials said that the deceased was the son of a local leader.

The incident took place in Sector 11-L, Orangi Town, within the limits of the Mominabad police station. The deceased was identified as 28-year-old Ali Tanoli, son of Ali Afsar Tanoli. According to SHO Shoaib Qureshi, the victim's father was a former local bodies representative of the Pakistan Peoples Party, who later joined the Pak Sarzameen Party. He is currently abroad.

Police officials said the deceased had arrived near Arshi Park, along with two others, on a motorcycle and one of them shot and killed him after a heated argument, while the suspects later managed to escape the scene.

Police said the deceased had a criminal record and cases were registered against him in different police stations. A case was registered and further investigation is under way.
