Meghan Markle's bridal gown takes inspiration from Princess Diana

Dress worn by the Duchess of Sussex bore a striking resemblance to the one adorned by the late Princess Diana

Royal weddings, over generations, have kept traditions intact and Prince Harry’s marriage to Meghan Markle was no different – from the tiara, the flowers to the kiss – every detail upholding customs, reported Marie Claire.

Where royal brides have shown varied taste in couture, the dress worn by Meghan bore a striking resemblance to the one adorned by Princess Diana in 1981 – both opted for simple fabric, letting incredible trains do the talking.

Meghan turned heads by wearing a classic boat-neck gown designed by British designer Clare Waight Keller at Givenchy with a dramatic veil that featured flowers representing all 52 commonwealth countries embroidered into the net. The Suits actor paired her diamond studs Queen Mary’s diamond bandeau tiara – lent to Meghan by Queen Elizabeth II.

The Duke and Duchess of Sussex have asked that anyone who might wish to mark the #RoyalWedding considers making a donation to charity, rather than sending a wedding gift.

The late princess, on the other hand, wore a voluminous gown featuring high neck-line with a long train attached to her dress.
