If you thought the Ali Zafar v Meesha Shafi scandal had died down, you were wrong. It seems like the latter’s sexual assault allegations are going to keep resurfacing in the media for some time more.
Now we already know that the Sun Ve Balori singer has accused Zafar of sexually harassing her on numerous occasions. Most recently, Shafi’s legal team responded to the Kill Dill actor’s defamation notice with one of their own, asking him to apologise not just to her but to all the other women who came forward against him.
But throughout that, Shafi has spoken the bare minimum on the matter. Until now. The Aya Lariye crooner recently took to Twitter to say she wasn’t the only one Zafar has harassed.
Shafi responded to a tweet by a user who asked her to name all the harassers and not to only target the Jhoom singer.
“Yes, only he harassed me but he didn’t harass me only. Get it?” she fired back. “Half a dozen other women coming forward are not enough for you all? How many will it take? Please share a number,” she added.
Previously, the 36-year-old went public with her alleged ordeal, stating that she was sharing her story to break the culture of silence surrounding harassment and abuse in Pakistan.
After the mother of two accused Zafar, many women came forward with accusations of their own against him.
With the large number of women sharing their own experiences of being harassed, it seems that the #MeToo movement has finally come to Pakistan as well. Earlier, Khalid Bajwa of Patari was accused of inappropriate behaviour and thereby forced o step down from his position in the firm.
