Injured ATF official embraces martyrdom at CMH

QUETTA: A security personnel of the Anti-Terrorism Force (ATF), who was seriously injured during Wednesday night’s operation in Killi Almas area, embraced martyrdom as he succumbed to his injuries in Combined Military Hospital (CMH), Quetta, on Thursday afternoon.

The martyred ATF personnel was identified as Syed Sanaullah Shah. He had received multiple bullet injuries during gun battle with suspected militants of banned Lashkar-e-Jhangvi.

Also, Deputy Commandant of Military Intelligence Col Sohail Abid Raja had embraced martyrdom while ATF and other security forces soldiers had been injured in the heavy gun-fight late on Wednesday night.
Official sources confirmed that the alleged LeJ chief Salman Badeni along with two would-be suicide bombers were killed during the operation of security forces, which was conducted on intelligence information that hardcore terrorists were present in Killi Almas, a locality on the outskirts of Quetta.

The Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) stated that the two would-be suicide bombers killed in gun battle were from Afghanistan. A large quantity of arms and ammunition was also seized by the security forces from the hideout of the suspected militants.



Officials said that Badeni was wanted by law enforcement agencies in different cases of targeted killings, arranging suicide attacks and other such incidents. “Badeni was involved in killing of over 100 innocent members of the Hazara community and police personnel,” the ISPR statement said.
The funeral prayers of Col Raja and ATF official Shah were held at Police lines and Quetta Cantonment area. Balochistan Chief Minister Abdul Quddus Bizenjo, Home Minister Sarfraz Ahmed Bugti, Inspector General Frontier Corps Major General Nadeem Ahmed Anjum, Inspector General of Police Moazzam Jah Ansari, and senior military and police officers attended the funeral of both the officials.
The body of Col Raja was sent to his native village in Vehari. The ATF personnel belonged to Quetta and was a resident of Killi Barat, a locality on the outskirts of Quetta. He was buried in the local graveyard with official honour.
