The strategy has been developed by Indufor of Finland in partnership with CHIP Training & Consulting of Pakistan. Indufor Group is one of the world’s leading forest consulting service providers.
The strategy has been developed through a consultative process spanning over a year across the country, involving diverse stakeholder from all provinces. The strategy focuses reducing emission of Greenhouse effect gases (GHGs) from the deforestation and forest degradation, as well as conserving and increasing carbon stock in forest. It also aims at promoting sustainable forest management.
The Ministry of Climate Change (MoCC) through the National REDD+ Office is implementing the Readiness Preparation Project to develop the requirements for the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC) to potentially receive compensation for the results achieved on REDD+. During the workshop, other requirements were also finalised including framework design of Safeguard Information System, the Feedback Grievance Redress Mechanism (FGRM) and the Environmental and Social Management Framework developed by Climate Law and Policy and Haigler Bailey Pakistan.
