Pakistan wants lasting peace in Afghanistan: Nasser Janjua

Janjua urges Kabul to avoid blame game

ISLAMABAD: National Security Adviser (NSA) Nasser Khan Janjua on Tuesday said Pakistan seeks lasting peace with Afghanistan and is engaging Taliban to achieve that, reported Radio Pakistan.

“Pakistan has been trying to engage Taliban in a political process for lasting peace in neighbouring Afghanistan,” he stated.

Janjua was sharing his views in a seminar titled, “China-Afghanistan-Pakistan: Constructive Engagement for sustainable growth" in Islamabad.

He even urged Kabul to avoid the blame game.



The Chinese Ambassador to Pakistan Yao Jing, while speaking on the occasion expressed that China wants to host the next phase of dialogue for Afghan peace.

Afghan Ambassador Omar Zakhilwal said that regional stability is linked with trade whereas every project of Pakistan leaves a positive impact on Afghanistan.

On May 14, a delegation led by Afghan Deputy Foreign Minister Hekmat Khalil Karzai and Pakistan’s Foreign Secretary Tehmina Janjua agreed that effective and full implementation of a bilateral peace initiative would help eliminate terrorism and achieve peace, stability, prosperity and development of the people of the two countries.

The decision was taken during the fourth meeting of Afghanistan Pakistan Action Plan for Peace and Solidarity (APAPPS) that took place at the ministry of foreign affairs.
