The Khanna police said an 18-year-old had approached them on Saturday with the complaint that WH* had entered her house in the Zia Masjid locality and allegedly raped her at gunpoint. It was immediately unclear whether the man had forcibly gained entry to the house.
Police said they had immediately registered a case and launched a manhunt for the suspect.
“We are trying to track him [the suspect down through technological records,” a police officer said, adding that the victim worked as a salesperson at a clothing store.
Land dispute
At least two people were injured in a clash over a land dispute within the remits of the Sihala police station on Saturday.
Police subsequently around 48 people, including eight who were named and 40 unidentified people, for allegedly trying to forcibly occupy land apparently
owned by Atif Hussain.
Police said that Hussain and his fellow Tariq were also injured in the clash, allegedly after some of the suspects opened fire.
Apart from attempted murder and trespass, the 48 suspects have also been booked for spreading terror due to the heavy firing.
Last year, an armed confrontation over a land dispute between locals and DHA officials had also resulted in the death of a person within the remits of Sihala police.
Gone missing
Meanwhile, a sexagenarian man mysteriously disappeared from his home in Sector F-11. The Shalimar police said that 65-year-old Muhammad Wali left his home on May 10 and never returned. Police have registered a case of kidnapping against unidentified people on the complaint of Wali’s relatives.
