An anti-terrorism court on Saturday sought a reply from the stakeholders in the Naqeebullah murder case regarding a bail plea filed by prime accused Rao Anwar, reported Express News.

According to reports, former SSP Malir Rao Anwar filed a petition in the court seeking bail based on the grounds that there were numerous discrepancies in the reports filed against Anwar in the case.

Anwar claimed that he was not present at the crime scene where Naqeebullah was killed, and should, therefore, be let go immediately.

Earlier, it was reported that Anwar had been offered a ‘deal’ if he became a prosecution witness in the case.

According to sources, the investigation team said that guaranteeing the former Malir SSP lenient treatment will expedite the inquiry process and help nab those absconding.

Speaking to Express News on condition of anonymity, a JIT official said the investigation was nearing conclusion.
