Relying on foreign investments

A UAE-based company has expressed willingness to invest in the crumbling water sector of the province of Balochistan

Letter May 12, 2018

Water shortage has been a recurrent problem in Pakistan that has been gravely affecting almost all the cities in the country. While the provincial governments are least bothered to solve the issue and go beyond just formulating a water policy, a UAE-based company has expressed willingness to invest in the crumbling water sector of the province of Balochistan.

During a recently held meeting with Balochistan Chief Minister Abdul Quddus Bizenjo, the executive officer of the International Climate Global Trading Company showed interest in investing in the water sector and signing a Memorandum of Understanding. Although the provincial government should have stepped up its efforts to solve the issue, seems like once again the country will have to depend on foreign investments to solve its homegrown issues.

This is not to say that this MoU shouldn’t be commended, but it is important to point out the failures of our federal and provincial governments, who are repeatedly ignoring the looming water crisis. Perhaps until water from their own homes run out, they are unlikely to wake up from their deep slumber.

SAEED KHAN | 3 years ago | Reply Honorable Sikh Scholars Scribes and Friends As you know Bang is the Islamic call for prayer - given Five Times a Day in Arabic. The verses 1 32 of Bhai Gurdas prove that Baba Nanak gave this Bang. If so he must have learned it from a Muslim teacher and practiced it for a while like this new Muslim revert in the following video https www.youtube.com watch v sVPwz6jdcU8 If Baba Nanak gave this Bang five times a day like a Muslim he must have also prayed Namaz like a Muslim There are some other clues in these verses that support this conclusion. For example he carried a Kuza which is a water mug for ablution and a Musalah which is a Prayer matt for Islamic Prayers on his way to Mecca Medina and Baghdad. He also carried a Book under his armpit which is Quran. Twice he uses the word Hajj or Hajji for Baba Nanak. In this way Bhai Gurdas proved it with his genius that Baba Nanak was a Muslim without using the word Muslim. It is evident in the Islamic vocabulary that he picked up such as the Arabic words of Quran like Az a Kitab and Musalah. He did not use any word of Hindi Punjabi or Sanskrit. The Sikh literature tells us that Baba Nanak rejected the Sanskrit language as Dev Bhasha. For two reasons therefore it is out of question that Baba Nanak was carrying a copy of Adi Granth. 1 It did not even exist in his days and 2 the word used for the Sikh scripture is granth not kitab. Sardar Santar Gobind Singh seems to have rightly pleaded that if Muslims regard Pir Nanak as Muslim none of us Sikhs should get annoyed because this is an honor to our Guru Nanak his gratification and admiration. Guru Nanak belongs to the Muslims first and then to us. Moreover there were only two major nations in India at the time of Guru Nanak Ji Hindus and Muslims. Khalsa Panth appeared two hundred years after the death of Guru Nanak. In 1966 the Akali leader Master Tara Singh pleaded that Sikhism should be declared a sect of Islam. According to Dr. A.S. Ahluwalia Sikhism has made the best use of its acquaintance with Islam and Sufism to preach the religious views and philosophies. If so it would certainly be in the best interest of the Sikhs to seek an alliance with Islam. With regards and best wishes Saeedullah Khan
