In an effort to make the upcoming elections transparent, the Election Commission of Pakistan has decided to take an oath from all officials overseeing the polls.

According to a report aired by a private television channel, before posting officials to their designated polling stations, all of them will be required to sign a Performa which bounds them to strictly enforce electoral laws during polls.

The report added that failure to enforce these laws will also result in the initiation of an inquiry which would punish the concerned officials.

In a first, watermarked ballot papers to be used in 2018 general elections

ECP has also decided to use watermarked ballot papers to protect the integrity of the elections, and special paper in this regard has already been ordered.

The special paper is being exported from France and England through Printing Corporation of Pakistan, and has cost around Rs1 billion.

Earlier, it was reported that the ballot papers in the upcoming general elections will bear a watermark on them which is unprecedented in Pakistan’s electoral history.

The special paper will be provided in June 2018 after which the printing process shall begin.
