LOS ANGELES,:

Call the Avengers, someone has stolen Iron Man's suit. Or better yet, let's have some fans find out the culprit.

Los Angeles police said the gold and red suit worn by Robert Downey Jr in the original 2008 superhero smash hit was reported missing on May 8 from a storage facility.

Officer Christopher No said that the owners of the warehouse believe the iconic costume, valued at $325,000 vanished between February and April 25 from the prop storage warehouse in Pacoima, located north of downtown Los Angeles.

No said the "unusual" theft was considered high priority and detectives so far had no leads in the case.

Fans of the franchise took to Twitter to express their outrage over the theft.

One said that it's impossible to steal the Iron Man suit but if someone did, they deserve to keep it.

Others thought Pepper Potts or Spiderman stole it - maybe even Robert himself.

Some fans believe that the theft was a PR stunt for the upcoming Marvel films, especially Avengers 4, which is slated to release on May 4, 2019.
