Be it the 2018 wedding of Sonam Kapoor or the 1973 wedding of megastar Amitabh Bachchan, B-town celebrities have often remained tight-lipped about their love lives. While they try their best to keep their personal relationships away from the spotlight, there’s only little that can be kept hidden from the world. Compiled from Filmfare, here is a list of seven famous Bollywood weddings that have taken place over the decades.

1. Anushka Sharma and Virat Kohli

The duo tied the knot on December 11, 2017, in a private ceremony in Tuscany, Italy. While we have seen Anushka as a bride several times on the silver screen, we just couldn’t take our eyes off her real-life bride avatar on her big day. The couple took to social media after their marriage to make an official announcement by posting a picture from the wedding reception and captioned it, “Today we have promised each other to be bound in love forever. We are truly blessed to share the news with you. This beautiful day will be made more special with the love and support of our family of fans and well-wishers. Thank you for being such an important part of our journey.”

2. Mira Rajput and Shahid Kapoor

Though it was said to be a low-key affair in Delhi, their wedding became a major trend on Twitter with the hashtag,  #ShahidKiShaadi. From candid pictures from the ceremonies to Shahid’s first selfie with his new bride, the wedding was the talk of the town. The grand reception was held on July 11, 2016, in Mumbai with all of tinsel town supposedly in attendance.

3. Kareena Kapoor and Saif Ali Khan

Five years and counting! This Bollywood jodi’s marriage was the most royal affair. With almost an entire week of nuptials, the power couple had two star-studded receptions in Mumbai and Delhi. The couple wedded on October 16, 2012, and have a son named Taimur Ali Khan. While Saif has two children from his ex-wife Amrita Singh, Taimur is Kareena’s first child.

4. Aishwarya Rai and Abhishek Bachchan

While the Jazbaa star was in two long relationships – one with Salman Khan and the other with Vivek Oberoi – Abhishek was rumoured to tie the knot with then girlfriend Karisma Kapoor. Hence, no one saw this big fat Bollywood wedding coming their way. The two got married on April 20, 2007, and celebrated their 10th wedding anniversary last year. We feel their couple is a true example of a match made in heaven!

5. Neetu Singh and Rishi Kapoor

Thirty-eight years strong! Many like to believe this was the most lavish wedding ever hosted by the Kapoor khandaan. With 20-days-long festivities, Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan performed for the first time in India at their sangeet. The couple who tied the knot on January 24, 1980, have two children together – Riddhima and Ranbir Kapoor.

6. Gauri Chibber and Shah Rukh Khan

The strongest love marriage of B-town! Much before Shah Rukh became synonymous with super stardom, he tied the knot with his long-time sweetheart Gauri Chhibber. In their dating period, Shah Rukh had to fake being a Hindu in front of Gauri’s parents. But after much ado, the couple convinced Gauri’s parents and registered a court marriage on October 25, 1991. This was followed by two more traditional marriage ceremonies, one Hindu and one Muslim, both of which took place in Delhi.

7. Jaya Badhuri and Amitabh Bachchan

Surprisingly, it was the simplest and smallest wedding. With very close family members in attendance, the wedding was a traditional Bengali one. The first stage involved Jaya’s father coming to Amitabh’s residence with gifts. Amitabh’s father, Harivansh Rai Bachchan, then did the same for the bride. Neighbours were told that Amitabh’s car was decorated because he was rehearsing for a film. The duo got married on June 3, 1973, and has two children, Shweta and Abhishek Bachchan.
