CDA bulldozes annexe of shrine in graveyard

Illegal settlement near girls school also uprooted

ISLAMABAD: The Capital Development Authority (CDA) on Wednesday razed to the ground illegal structures around a shrine in Bhekha Syedan Graveyard of Sector F-11/3.

Owing to the sensitivity of the situation, the civic agency conducted the operation in collaboration with ICT Administration and Islamabad police, while Rangers personnel were also present for backup as bulldozers tore down structures linked to a spiritual place.

During the operation on Street 49 in Sector F-11/1, boundary wall of Khankah Baba Muqeem Shah constructed over seven kanals was demolished along with the place for free-food distribution or langar-khana spread over one-kanal. A water tank and two buffaloes sheds were demolished.



Around the Shrine of Shah Muzammil Shah, 19 rooms constructed at segregated locations for residence purpose, an ablution site having 12 washrooms, and numerous boundary walls were bulldozed. Moreover, the entrance gates of four shops also demolished.

Graveyard allocation linked to project volume

The enforcement teams also cleared an illegal settlement of squatters near Islamabad Model School for Girls (I-V) Bhekha Syedan.

Four families had set up a hutment near the girls schools. The residents were first evicted with all of their belongings and after that all rooms, washrooms and boundary walls were razed to the ground. The operation ended at 3.30pm.

In this anti-encroachment operation all operational staff of Enforcement Directorate under the supervision of Deputy Directo Muhammad Ramzan, Assistant Director Land Amir Olukh took part. ADC Shoaib Ali personally supervised the entire operation while magistrate and ASP Shalimar Circle with police respective precinct were present to control law and order situations.
