Officials said unidentified assailants had attacked the man near the DGPR office. Police said two other men including a brother of the deceased had been injured in the incident.
Officials said they had been taken to Quetta Civil Hospital. Quoting CHIPA sources, officials said the attack was perpetrated in connection with a longstanding rivalry.
Death toll from Balochistan mines collapse tragedy rises to 23
Separately, at least 23 miners were killed and several injured on Saturday after two coal mines collapsed in Balochistan, officials said while announcing the end of rescue operation.
A total of 16 person were trapped after a gas explosion in Pir Ismail, Marwar (45 kilometres from Quetta) around noon. Their bodies were recovered after a rescue operation stretching over hours.

The Quetta DC, Provincial Disaster Management Authority (PDMA) men, inspector mines and Frontier Corps (FC) personnel were among others present at the site of the rescue operation.
