Officials told Express News that anti-corruption directorate deputy director (Legal) Mian Abdul Jabbar had been sacked due to alleged corruption, while the services of assistant director investigation Asif Noor were terminated due to unsatisfactory performance.
Besides, on public complaints the entire staff of anti-corruption department, the technical branch had been changed and officers with a solid reputation had been appointed in their place.
Anti-corruption department statistics revealed that Gujranwala directorate dealt with a total of 1,308 inquiries from October 1, 2017 to April 30, 2018.
Of these, 239 cases were registered while arrest warrants under the judicial action were issued against 120 suspects, including 100 government employees. During the past seven months, a total of 377 suspects were arrested in new and old cases and out of these, 51 government employees were caught taking bribe red-handed.
