The Pakistan Air Force (PAF) invited children suffering from Thalassemia to visit its bases in Sargodha and Lahore to mark the World Thalassemia Day on Monday.
The visit was arranged by Sundas Foundation, a welfare organisation working for the treatment of children suffering from the blood disease, who had expressed their desire to spend time with the fighter pilots and ground crew of the PAF.
On their arrival at PAF Base Mushaf in Sargodha, the children were accorded warm welcome by the base authorities. The children first visited the history room of the base, where they were briefed about the glorious chapters of history written by the personnel of the base.
Children were delighted to see various fighter jets including JF-17 Thunder, Mirage and F-7 aircraft on tarmac. They also interacted with pilots and asked them questions regarding their professional responsibilities and family life.
Witnessing the flying activity in full swing, which left them spellbound, was icing on the cake.
The group also visited PAF base Lahore, where they keenly witnessed various air defence equipment and radars. To make this event memorable, the visiting children were also presented gifts and PAF souvenirs to keep the tour fresh in their memories.
Expressing their joy, the ailing children termed it as one of the unforgettable experiences of their lives.
The PAF regularly arranges such activities for the children to acquaint them with the working of the air force and instill a sense of pride in the children regarding capabilities of the country’s armed forces.
