LAHORE: Pakistan’s left-arm fast-bowler Sohail Tanvir will start his rehabilitation at the National Cricket Academy (NCA) in Lahore and remains optimistic about his return to the Pakistan squad in the future.

Tanvir issued his availability to the selectors for the series against England, knowing that he will regain full fitness by then, the selectors decided against naming him in the 35-squad from which the 17 individuals will be shortlisted.

“It was up to the selectors and to some extent they have every reason not to select me,” Tanvir told The Express Tribune. “Since I’m currently unfit, maybe that’s why they decided to overlook me or maybe they are not confident whether I could regain fitness by the time the England tour comes along.”

However, Tanvir is still targeting the series that kicks off on July 29 and believes that he will be fit by the first week of July as he was suggested a four months rest prior to the rehabilitation process after he underwent knee surgery in Australia.

“I’ve already completed my prescribed rest which was of four months now will start my training at NCA to find rhythm and hopefully impress the selectors.”
