Cops & Robbers: Robbery suspect injured in encounter

A man was injured during a police encounter on Monday. The incident took place in the New Multan area.

MULTAN: A man was injured during a police encounter on Monday. According to residents, the incident took place in the New Multan area when police officials fired upon a band of robbers.

One man was injured in the encounter and police officials transferred the injured, Bashir, to a nearby hospital. Meanwhile, several residents said that the police had illegally arrested Bashir and shot him on the pretext of the operation. New Multan DSP Mian Tanveer said the injured man was involved in several counts of robbery and that he was injured by the bullet of his own accomplice during a shoot out with police officials. Two police officials have been deployed to guard the injured man in the hospital after police feared he would try to escape with the help of his accomplices.
