In four months: Police claim arresting 2,852 suspects

Say spokesperson heads of all police stations monitored the performance of their subordinates

ISLAMABAD: Islamabad police have arrested 2,852 criminals, including 656 absconders, during the last four months and recovered valuables worth more than Rs.219.4 million from them, a police spokesman said. The spokesman, in a statement on Tuesday, said heads of all police stations monitored the performance of their subordinates especially investigation officers probing various cases as per directives of Inspector General of Police Islamabad Dr Sultan Azam Temuri and Senior Superintendent of Police Najeebur Rehman Bugvi. Owing to renewed efforts during the last four months, he said, the police arrested 172 persons involved in 109 robbery cases with looted valuables worth Rs14.3 million. He said the police officials completed investigation into 2,240 cases and submitted their challans in relevant courts. About 144 burglary cases were also resolved, besides arrest of 246 burglars and valuables worth Rs63.7 million were recovered from them, he added.
