AIOU puts technology to use for expediting mailing of books

Receiving study material on time can help students submit assignment

ISLAMABAD: Allama Iqbal Open University (AIOU) has expedited mailing of books and allied material to its around seven lakh students, who were enrolled for spring 2018 semester, through smart use of new technology.

It was being ensured that the students could get the same at the earliest in order to submit their academic assignments within stipulated time-schedule, a news release said on Monday.

According to the university's mailing department, text-books and study materials have so far been sent to nearly 250,000 students, enrolled in Matric, FA, and BA programs.

Mailing of teachers' training programs and Post-graduate programs will start by the mid of May.

On the advice of the Vice Chancellor Prof Dr Shahid Siddiqui, a new computerised tracking system has been introduced, facilitating the students to check the books' mailing status.

A new computerised tracking system has also been developed through which the students using website can simply enter their roll number and registration number to track the mailing package.

The students have been advised to contact their relevant post offices in case of delay in the books' delivery.
