Rankings: Bowlers on the rise

Bowlers have exploited the favourable conditions in Guyana and have made good progress in the latest rankings.

Bowlers have exploited the favourable conditions in Guyana and have made good progress in the latest Reliance ICC Player Rankings for Test bowlers.

Home team captain Darren Sammy along with Ravi Rampaul and Devendra Bishoo, as well as Pakistan’s Saeed Ajmal and Mohammad Hafeez, have all achieved career-best rankings.

Sammy has vaulted 16 places to rise to the 29th position. Rampaul has jumped 36 places to the 58th while Bishoo has claimed the 81st place.

For Pakistan, Saeed Ajmal took a leap of 17 places that puts him in the 31st position. Mohammad Hafeez has moved up 11 places to 62nd while Umar Gul has dropped to 17th position.

Meanwhile, the only batsmen moving in the right direction were Shivnarine Chanderpaul in seventh, Umar Akmal in 37th and Asad Shafiq in 68th place.
