Karachi's security situation improved significantly during PML-N's tenure, says PM Abbasi

Premier inaugurates gas processing facility in Hyderabad, hails success of Karachi operation

Prime Minister Shahid Khaqan Abbasi said on Saturday that the government of Pakistan Muslim League - Nawaz has significantly improved the security situation of Karachi and the city is slowly coming back to life again.

"There are no more empty tables at restaurants in Karachi," Abbasi said while speaking to a gathering after inaugurating a gas processing facility at Kunnar oil and gas field in Hyderabad.

Minister for Information Marriyum Aurangzeb and Sindh Governor Mohammad Zubair were also present on the occasion.

In his address to the inauguration ceremony, the premier was of the opinion that the differences between the performance of the incumbent government and those who were in power before were clear for everyone to see.

"Many governments claimed big things here. But only Nawaz Sharif can deliver. If you compare the PML-N government with the Musharraf and PPP governments, you will notice the differences," he said.

According to the prime minister, the present set-up had accomplished what other governments could not achieve in the last seventy years.

Addressing the energy crisis in the country, which has hit parts of Sindh hard in recent weeks, Abbasi blamed the Oil and Gas Development Company (OGDC) for delays in supplies.



"Pakistan’s energy crises won't resolve unless the OGDC supplies more gas and leads the way for prosperity. We have never told OGDC to give us the LPG quota or to hand over the contract to someone else," he stated.

Commenting on the political situation in the country, PM Abbasi told the gathering that the governments which fill their pockets can not solve the issues of the people.

"They [opposition] can accuse us of anything, but PML-N has always talked about resolving national issues. When we were elected, the energy crises was worse than it is today. We inherited absolute shambles," the prime minister added.

"The security situation in Karachi was abysmal. Karachi was listed as one of the five most dangerous places in the world," he added.

Abbasi also talked about the controversy surrounding the presentation of the sixth budget by the incumbent government, and challenged opponents to change a single word.

"Many critics said our government would end within a year. But we have only prospered. We unveiled the best budget in the country’s history," he claimed.



"Yesterday our critcs said we should not present the budget. But we were elected by the people and will work till our last day in office. I challenge them to change even a single word in this budget," he noted.

Abbasi added that coming governments would have to build on the performance of PML-N to benefit the nation.

"False promises and accusations will not lead the nation anywhere. You must decide which kind of direction you want to take the country in," Abbasi said.
