According to Express News, the pharma sector announced a protest and strike in Lahore along with other cities of Punjab against the amendment in the drug act.
It is pertinent to mention that under the Punjab Drug Act 2017, a pharmacist’s presence in the medical store has been declared mandatory whereas a punishment will be awarded over untidiness in the stores.
‘Shortage’ of medicines: Minister orders probe
Shop owners protested in Lahore, Multan, Hafizabad, Kamalia, Toba Tek Singh, Rajan Pur, Jhaniyan and Sohawa.
Consequently, patients faced problems due to unavailability of medicines and closure of shops as the chemist and drug association observed strike in Faisalabad.
On the other hand, medical stores and pharmacies were even observing a strike in Kundiyan, Chasma, Pipla, Harnoli, Bhakkar, Bhawalanagar along with the whole district.
