Petitioners Muhammad Saleem and other district election commissioners had filed a petition in LHC where their counsel contended they had not been paid the election allowances for the past five years. He implored more than 10 employees of the ECP rendered their election duty in general election in 2013 upon which a notification was also issued relating to pay the election allowances but all in vain.
The counsel for the petitioners implored that five years have passed but the election allowances had not been paid to those ECP (Punjab chapter) employees and some senior officials who served in last general election in 2013. He submitted that now the election 2018 were just around the corner and the ECP officials were being assigned new duties again for the election scheduled to be held in 2018 despite they had not been paid for the duties performed in the previous elections. The petitioners requested the court that all dues be cleared before the coming general elections.
